We were on that same cruise that the person reviewed under the title "The Haven Needs Updating" as that is the only cruise up the west coast on the Jewel as it transitions to the Alaskan run and that also stopped in in Astoria We were in Suite 14510 which would have been the suite next to theirs. We had just a complete opposite experience from what they had. Since there was only one male butler in the haven, we would have had the same butler. Roland was an outstanding butler. He always responded promptly, efficiently and friendly to every request and need that wee had. We mentioned to him on the first day that we would like a pitcher of ice water in our refrigerator. That pitcher was kept filled through out our trip. He always brought wine, or cocktails to our suite when ever we requested them. He also anticipated our needs. When we went ashore the first time, we said we would like to have some sandwiches in our room when we returned The next time when we went ashore, sandwiches were in our room upon return. If you did not see him in the hall, a phone call would get your request fulfilled. We ate dinner in our room one evening and he made it a very enjoyable experience.

The Haven valet, Jon, was also outstanding. If you chose to eat breakfast or lunch in the Haven, He got your order in a fast friendly manner and always made sure everything was to your satisfaction. He kept coffee,water and juice out in the morning along with pastries. After that there was cookies, and candies available. In the afternoon there was popcorn.

This was our 16th cruise with NCL. Roland and Jon were an essential part of making this a great cruise. They rank among the best we have ever had. Read more
