Let me start by saying I was excited to try this renovated ship. I looked forward to the Serenity decks and updated features. I was sorely disappointed.
Embarkation was a disorganized mess due to a medical detour the ship made the night before. Carnival gave incorrect information by phone and stated the ship would be on time. Once we got inside the terminal, we were given a letter saying boarding would be delayed until 2pm or later due to the detour the night before. A major snafu with being denied a wheelchair led to tears even before boarding the ship. I'm hoping Carnival will make this right, but I'm still waiting. Now onto the ship...
First off is the noticeable leaking and rust on the ship. In our ocean view stateroom, our window was rusted all around with rust stains on the window ledge. There were numerous leaks up and down our hallway, with a large puddle in front of our room. Maintenance did come fix the leaks eventually, but it makes you wonder about the safety of the ship. The next leak we experienced was in the Sunrise dining room during afternoon tea. While enjoying the free tea (not to be confused for the tea they now charge for) the ceiling started to leak water directly onto our heads. They offered to move us, but we declined and left.
Great reef. Gibbs Cay stingray and snorkel was well worth the price. Such a great day.
An hour-long city tour showed us the highlights of San Juan. Afterwards we went to San Cristobal fort and explored on our own. El Morrow and the cemetery are on my list of things to explore more when we go back someday.
Orlando was beautiful. We did one day at Disneyworld and one at the Kennedy Space Center. So much to do!
