Carnival Paradise Cruise Review by Ty9091

Trip Details
  • Sail Date: Apr 2016
  • Destination: the Western Caribbean
  • Cabin Type: Ocean View

Although the ship appeared slightly outdated compared to many of the newer ships in the Carnival fleet, it had all the necessities that we expected. The ocean view cabin with a king bed was clean and adequate size for my wife and I. Although we didn't watch much TV while on board, the sound on the TV was somewhat muted and sometimes difficult to hear. Plenty of storage space for our four pieces of luggage, which we actually had over packed for the trip. We did however bring a hanging cloth shoe and toiletries racks (over the door) that helped out. We were near a laundry room and washed & dried clothes a couple of times on the trip without any problem. The laundry room had an iron & ironing board set up for free use.

Bed and pillows were comfortable. So much so that we spent far more time sleeping than either of us had expected. There were only two minor complaints regarding the cabin... the coat hangers were kind of strange (four hangers hanging off of one hook) and the room had only one electrical outlet that we had to share. Bathroom was adequate size and plenty of water pressure, hot water, towel hooks, etc. No complaints there.

Over all the ship was clean. The staff was friendly, engaging and helpful. The food was not bad. We ate at the grill, pizza and wok stations and the food was good on each occasion. We also ate in Elation dining room and the food was restaurant quality as well.

There was enough entertainment to keep us occupied. We really enjoyed Travis at the Atrium bar doing acoustic guitar sets, as well as music show downs at the Atrium. The shows were good but were kind of age specific. I enjoyed the 80's show, but the 60's 'Here Come the Brits', although well done, just didn't resonate with me. Many of the older folks on board liked it though. Definitely enjoyed the 'Love & Marriage' show. Haven't laughed that much in a while.

We had no real complaints for the money we spent for a five day cruise.

Port & Shore Excursion Reviews

Sea Trek

Although initially felt somewhat unorganized at the gathering tent, we thoroughly enjoyed this excursion. My wife doesn't know how to swim, and yet the crew made her feel extremely comfortable going down 30 feet. Was a lot of fun.

Cozumel

We spent most of our time in the port area shopping and ate at Pancho's. Food & service were great. We ventured across the street and it quickly turned into the tourist trap you would in border towns in Mexico
