The Riviera was highly recommended to us. It was our 2nd cruise with Oceania (Insignia, before), and I should have known better. My husband and I go cruising to relax, have nice meals with good service, and then dance the night ways! This just was not possible.

Embarkation was fine, although we were not advised that we could board at 11 a.m. (Concierge Level) -- our "ticket" read 12 noon. The ship was beautiful, apparently no Norovirus, lovely works of art, our stateroom (9058) was very nice, but very noisy; the bathroom, somewhat small -- tiny shower, big tub, and small vanity. The Lounge at the Concierge Level was small, the Concierge always too busy, same "hors d'ouvres" every day -- not worth the extra cost.

We did not go on any of the ship's excursions, as we had already been to the first two ports-of-call and really wanted to enjoy the ship. We did get off in Gibraltar, but went on our own. We attended the end of one of the concerts by a very talented couple of violinists, and that was lovely. I attended the Bridge lessons and enjoyed them very much -- they were very useful in bringing back a lot that I have forgotten in 16 years without playing -- good teachers. Service was fine, but I did hear "no" a few times -- unheard of on the Crystal -- before them hearing "maybe." The specialty restaurants, very nice, but not any better than on Regent or Crystal.
