we do an annual anniversary cruise out of NOLA and for this cruise we sailed with Carnival on the triumph for a 5 day to cozumel and progreso. on this trip we booked 2 excursions, 1 for each port. the first stop cozumel we did La Casa en La Playa - A Select Retreat ($120 pp), it was worth every dime! this excursion picks you up and brings you to your own private beach next to one of the bigger beach clubs. it does manage to keep everything separated quite nicely so you end up with your own stretch of beautiful beach with chairs/beds/hammocks all to yourself along with on the beach massages and a "casa" that has a bar & kitchen. the chef cooks from scratch a select few options for lunch but allows you to watch him cook and ask questions and he's very helpful and informative. the bar is upstairs and unlimited drinks STAY flowing the entire time, by the time my drink was emptying i had another waiting on me. again the staff was SUPER amazing and very attentive but not overly in your face and bothering you. got back to the pier in time to grab a few things and make it back on the ship with plenty of time to spare.

our next stop was progreso and we did the Dzibilchaltun Mayan Ruins & Merida City with Lunch. our guide was super informative and wasnt just rambling he was able to keep our attention and actually provide info that was interesting and i personally learned some things from him. the ruins were super neat just a bit of a note make sure to wear comfortable shoes its quite a hike around the ruins as well as climbing them. the cenote was super refreshing and cool to dip your feet in or even swim. just make sure you save some time to visit the museum as it houses A LOT of amazing artifacts and a ton of information about the ruins. lunch was at a small microbrewery called hermana republica and was very tasty as well as having some really good beer. i enjoyed a flight of beer to try several of what they offered and all were tasty. the bus tour of merida was again informative thanks to our guide but the bus was a bit warm due to the ac not being able to keep up. but the excursion was well worth it overall.

one of only a couple of complaints the open seating breakfasts seemed to have some issue getting food out and just overall service was off when compared to dinner services. my next complaint would have to do with the casino area, the ventilation or lack of left the casino unbearable compared to other boats weve been on for nonsmokers. the air was stagnant and saturated with cigerette smoke where as i find other boats have way better ventilation systems than the triumph had. and finally and again this has to do with the cigarette smoke, i purchased a balcony to enjoy the view and open air in private with my wife however the stench from the multiple people surrounding us smoking on their balconies was horrible and we were not able to enjoy our balcony as much as we would like to.

Balcony

Cabin 8D

the cabin was nice overall. the balcony had a chair that was broke but usable. the room steward was MIA for the entire trip. on past trips we essentially got to know our stewards and everything but this trip we saw him 1 time and never again. room was updated with a new flat screen tv but still shows it age. the bathroom was spacious as you could get on a boat imo.
