We chose the cruise because we had sailed the Magic before with our children under a different itinerary. We weren't disappointed but were even more impressed the 2nd time. We had an aft balcony on deck 7 (Stateroom 7467). Waking up and going to bed each night with just THAT view alone was worth everything. We ordered coffee each morning and would go out sip coffee and chat with both of our neighbors while appreciating the colors, the smells and, yes, even the winds. One thing, there are little soot bits that do settle outside. It is inevitable and completely avoidable. If you just bring a towel out to sit on each time you will be safe.
Our room steward was kind, efficient and responsive to requests.
Food is ok overall but there is so much of it you always end up finding your "go to" for the week and eating it most of the time. Mine is Tandoor. I go there every time they are open. It seems a lot of the crew eat there, too. So, I must be onto something. We always looked forward to MDR as we made friends and loved our servers. ALL of our servers from bars, to room service, to Lido ... ALL of them were kind and helpful.
I can't imagine there are better staterooms than where we stayed. The view was inspirational and peaceful.
I used to work in Galveston and live not too far away. Galveston is what you make of it. There are bad parts and good parts to it, like any city. My recommendation is to find local restaurants and shops that are recommended on yelp or other apps and give them your business because there is some great food and interesting shopping tucked away throughout Galveston. As far as historical and architectural - hit the library!! If you start there you can NOT go wrong.
I want to explore Cozumel more. It's just so pretty.
Driving through Belize and taking pictures and seeing some of their historical parts was interesting. We enjoyed getting to know our taxi driver who was a quiet man with a honorable history. He dropped us off outside the port so we could shop at the street vendors. I didn't like how one little boy (5-7yo) asked me for money for food and when I offered him a snack I had packed he ran off. Then, when walking around street vendors they wouldn't take my polite no for an answer. After that experience we decided to just go back to the port and not be in the "real" Belize. I feel like I missed out on the shopping that many people say you should do while in Belize.
