Cruised with Princess for the first time and doubt I would go with them again. Emerald is a large ship with plenty of things to do and places to eat, drink or just sit and relax, generally the ship was clean and tidy. The cabin was okay although not cleaned very well, there were stains on the cupboard doors, dust on the light switches, a broken mirror, the same crumbs on the table all week long, the carpet never vacuumed, the bathroom floor stank of urine, there is no kettle or iron in the cabin.

Dining in the dining rooms, de vinci and michelangelo was poor, food was below restaurant standard, I'd give it 3 out of 10, had steak pie one night that had no steak, beef wellington with raw pastry, if they served veg at all it was tasteless and over cooked, eventually gave up on dining rooms and ate in horizon buffet where food was a little better but finding an empty table was always a challenge.

Entertainment was average, nothing special and like many of the activities things only ever lasted half an hour! Service from the staff was again average and most of the time too in your face, the second you finished your food they'd swipe away the plate and constantly hover over you to sell you drinks.

Cabin Review

Balcony

Cabin BA

A decent enough size, well laid out but not cleaned properly. Dust, dirt and things left from previous passengers under the bed and in the cupboards - they obviously do not check or clean thoroughly. There is no kettle or hot drink making facilities in the cabin and no iron either which is a nuisance.

Port Reviews

Southampton

Got on and off at Southampton, parking was okay, quite a long walk once you get off the ship.

Vigo

Ship docks right in the town only a short walk across the road into the Vigo, no need to pay for an excursion.

Lisbon

Ship docks very close, only a short walk into the town centre.

St. Peter Port (Guernsey)

Nice place but tender ( a lifeboat ) to the island from the ship was poorly organised, had to wait over an hour to get off the boat, ship docked in Guernsey at 12noon but we did not get onto the island until 2pm.
