We sailed on the Regal Princess for their Spring Break cruise from March 20 - 27, 2016 to the Western Caribbean.
We arrived around 10 am and were in the top 50 - 75 passengers waiting to get on the ship. They opened the doors at 11 am and took the Princess Platinum guest first, then the regular line. We had a little hiccup when we got to the counter and were delayed about 45 minutes because I brought the wrong passport for my wife. My heart stopped beating for a few minutes, while my 11 year old started crying. I felt about as low as you could at this time. However, the Princess rep at the counter told us not to panic and very calmly walked us over to an office at the end of the counter. I called a family friend and he was able to retrieve her birth certificate at our house and faxed it to the Princess rep at the office. After they received her birth certificate we were on the ship within 10 minutes.
This ship is beautiful with ample space for everyone. We took the advice of other Cruise Critic members and bought a case of water from the local Costco, tape a luggage tag to the water and checked in on with our luggage. After boarding, we were still a little stressed out from our near miss experience and went straight to Alfredo's Pizzeria. My son has food allergies to all diary and nut ingredients and the head waiter went out of his way to make sure his food did not get cross-contaminated. The pizza and other food are great at this place. After eating, we were able to go access the our room after 1 pm.
Our mini-suite was excellent. I believe you can never go wrong getting a mini-suite on a Princess ship. The cabin had plenty of room for four of us, two adults and two kids. Having two TV's was great. The beds were very comfortable. The balcony was very small and should be address in future ship designs by Princess. We had room to sit out on the balcony, but it was very crowded with the table and chairs.
This was very reasonably priced
This was a great experience. I feel we got reaped off by the local taxis driver charging us $40 for a round trip five minute drive to Dunn River Falls. I did not like the pressure they try to put on you to tip the video guy for pictures you never ask for.
Captain Marvin's is great. Unfortunately, we had 7 ships in port that day, high winds, and stingray city was overcrowded. Snorkeling was very hard because of the winds and rough seas inside the reef.
Great company, but our van driver sucked. He did not know how to drive a stick shift, so our 1:50 minute drive took us 2:30. We were rushed through the ruins because we arrived so late.
This was the best excursion we have ever been on. I have never seen my wife so happy before on a excursion. We will never forget the awesome time we had at Dolphin Discovery.
