Travel group: husband, wife, and 14 year old son. We chose this cruise not on our desire, but because we had a 25% discount. We received the discount on a previous cruise. The itinerary was changed right before sailing and we were offered a full refund or a discount on our next cruise. This cruise fit into our vacation plans.
We flew in to LAX from Seattle. We took the Supershuttle from LAX to the Renaissance Marriott in Long Beach. The Supershuttle was great, $30 for all three of us. Great service, great communication. The Renaissance was a great place to stay. We took a Yellowcab to the port. Yellowcab was $10 for all of us. They also were a great service.
Embarkation went smoothly, but we also had FASTER TO THE FUN pass, so we had priority embarkation.
This was our second time on the Miracle. We do not know any other ship to compare it too, but we like it just fine!
We had an aft balcony. The room was nice. But it had a couple of problems. One problem was that the carpet was grossly dirty. The other problem was that the hair dryer overheated easily. When I called about it, the room steward said that we would have to just wait for it to cool down. That is a perk, a hair dryer! So that was irritating.
There is all kinds of entertainment. Something for everyone. If all else fails, lovely sitting areas to people watch!
For two dinners, we ate in Nick & Nora's, the Miracle's steak house. It was terrific! The service was awesome, the food was great, the ambiance was so rich!
The other nights, we ate in the main dining room. The service was good, and the food was good.
For breakfast, we ate mostly in the main dining room. Even though I asked for scrambled eggs well done, they kept bringing under cooked and runny eggs. I would also say that the service for breakfast was slow and spotty at best.
Food court -- for reference, imagine average grocery store deli hot food, that is kind of what the food court food was like. If it was kept hot for too long, the quality diminished. Weirdly seasoned, or unseasoned. We did like the deli section, the pizza section, and the grill near the pool because we could count on the quality of the food.
The coffee was miserable! A lot of times, it tasted like detergent. At the cafe's it was also miserable. The problem with the cafe's is that the coffee was expensive. Nothing like buying something that doesn't taste good. It would be great if Carnival trained their baristas and helped them to understand how to work the machines.
We had a couple of questions on the excursion to the Puerta Vallarta. When we went to the excursion counter, the staff was rude and indignant.
We stopped in Cabo San Lucas, Mazatlan, and Puerta Vallarta. All lovely ports with several different excursions. In Cabo, our family of three, chose to have a dolphin excursion. That excursion was on my husband's bucket list. It was awesome! The staff were very professional, the animals looked to be well taken care of, and the way that the staff treated us was also amazing! Before the excursion, we ate at Senor Frog. It was very entertaining!
In Mazatlan, we chose to shop and walk around. We had a blast going to the market, the cathedral, walking along the beach sight seeing.
In Puerta Vallarta, our excursion was snorkeling and going to a hidden beach. We LOVED it! The ride to the Marietas Islands was about an hour. We could snorkel, paddle board, and kayak. We all snorkeled. Husband and son kayaked, Husband went to hidden beach. The water was rough, so we were really tired afterwards, we would still jump to do it again. Continental breakfast, and a delicious lunch were included. We felt safe in their care! We were so tired afterwards, that we went back to the ship and slept instead of going back out to walk around the town.
We would do this cruise again, not because of Carnival, but because of the excursions. The excursions were terrific and we will remember them for the rest of our lives!
Cabin was spacious, with enough storage. Beds were comfortable. Balcony was lovely. MAJOR PROBLEM with carpet -- it was disgusting! Also, the blow dryer kept over heating.
LAX was busy, but we got through it! We really loved the Supershuttle -- their service was awesome!
This excursion was so amazing, we will talk about it for the rest of our lives. The company treated the dolphins well. Their facility was so clean and organized. Their rules were posted everywhere! Their lockers were secure. They had showers to rinse off of the salt water, they had towels to dry yourself off. They seemed to love their jobs and love the dolphins. We just walked around the town. It was fabulous!
