As a celebration of our 35th Wedding Anniversary, our 5th year ‘Cruise Anniversary’ & our 10th RCI cruise we booked the Explorer OTS 13N Sth Pacific & Nth Island NZ Mar-30 2016 for just DW and myself. This was the first ‘just-the-two-of-us’ for a few cruises.

This was our 1st Explorer cruise, but we had done 2 previously on Voyager, so the layout of the ship was very familiar & we have previously cruised on Rhapsody & Radiance, and last year we sailed Carnival Spirit to Melbourne Cup.

Originally we had booked an IC on Deck 6, but the opportunity presented itself for a paid upgrade to OV, which I did as a surprise for DW, being a special occasion & all, & the surprise remained all the way until we were in the cabin.

Cabin Review

Oceanview Stateroom

Cabin H

Cabin was perfectly adequate for our needs - clean and tidy & well serviced. We don't spend much time in our cabin, but we were happy. Little or no passing traffic as we were so far forward.

Port Reviews

Isle of Pines (New Caledonia)

Enjoyable short tour to see the sights and learn just a little of life here.

Bay of Islands

Relaxing cruise to view the sights, excellent lunch served on board & the boat crew were excellent

Tauranga

excellent tour - the whole day was great despite some showers at Hobbition, and our driver guide Mike was really great. Thoroughly recommended.

Auckland

very nice way to see downtown area, from the road & the water!!!

Mystery Island

Very small island with very friendly locals - a very nice few hours relaxing and buying some trinkets at the market stalls.

Noumea

Fourth visit to Noumea - took the HOHO bus and sent swimming at Lemon Bay and a nice lunch at the bar across from the beach
