My wife and I had been balcony cruisers but with the Canadian dollar tanking we elected for an eight day cruise with an interior cabin. From the time we embarked to the moment we stepped off of the ship we were thoroughly impressed with the ship and the crew.
We elected not to book any excursions but were still able to hit the exciting spots.
- St. Maarten - after shopping downtown we saw Maho (Airport) Beach and were sandblasted by a KLM 747. Loved every minute of it.
An interior cabin is essentially a bedroom and storage. Our room served that purpose with ample space and was kept spotless by the housekeeping staff.
Highly recommend using a shuttle service to this port. Arrived quickly but met by delays in the terminal. Wonder if a larger terminal is needed.
Loved every minute of St. Maarten and would have liked to have stayed longer. Airplane/Maho Beach is a must see at least once! Did not get to the French side and hope to see it next time.
We did not go far from the shopping area as we were tired out from the night before. Will have to explore this island in more detail next time.
Dumb as it may sound, there is one large mountain that was covered in clouds. I kept expecting King Kong or Godzilla to come down from that mountain. That's how I knew I was needing more sleep!
Old San Juan never fails to impress. Found Hotel El Convento and had a wonderful time there while waiting for stores to open.
A place to rest and relax and get some beach time before heading off to end our cruise. It was our last call for shopping and we found prices better than onboard. Shopping is getting better at cruise area and the beach (with chairs) is so restful!
