Emerald Princess Transatlantic April 2-16 2016
This was our 4th cruise and second on the Emerald. We arrived in Ft Lauderdale on the 1st April 2016 to a nice day. Cheapest room we could find was the Ramada inn Cruise terminal. This was not fancy by any standard but had a great Complimentary Breakfast and transportation from the airport, and to the cruise terminal. We spent the afternoon on the Carrie B boat site seeing the rich and famous houses along the waterways (We would do again).
On Cruise day the Ramada Hired a big party bus to take us to the ship. It was equipped with disco laser lights, music, and a dance floor. Embarking day was very Quick and arriving at 12:30 went straight to our room and started to explore the ship. Lots of ships in the Harbor and we did not leave until probably after 6 p.m. This was ok with us because we got to watch all the other boats cruise out with music blasting. The Cruise director Marshal and Frenchie are a great combination. We enjoyed both of them on the daily news updates and announcing various functions throughout the ship. As you would expect the first part of the trip was 7 sea days (Saturday to Saturday). Most of the days had overcast but on one or two we did sneak in some sun as we headed for the Azores Portugal. This was our first port of call but a big weather system moved into the North and the Captain decided that we should push on to Lisbon and avoid the heavy winds and rain. The ships chain of command always had our safety and comfort in mind at all times. They avoided most of the heavy stuff and kept us briefed and even had the weather maps posted on the Horizon court wall. The nice thing about the Princess cruise line is that most of the activities and ship layout are about the same.
New beds are just awesome.
Loved Portugal. We will be back
Was not impressed. Nice people but very bland cities. All seemed the same.
The downtown was nice
One day train to Paris. Rude people but very pretty city.
Took the Carrie B Tour boat. Very nice seeing how the rich a famous spend the money in Ft. Lauderdale
