Our cruise on Viking River Cruise was all that we expected and more. We chose the least expensive cabin and were pleasantly surprised. It was small but very cozy and comfortable. We had all the amenities that we would have received in a far more expensive room. Our dining arrangements, our entertainment and activities were all first class. The service we received was always delivered with a care and a friendly smile. The tour guides in every port were excellent. When our dock was not within walking distance of the center of town, there was always a shuttle available.

We did not book any of the optional excursions and were quite pleased that we didn't. The included tours gave us an overview of each town or city we stopped in and our dock location or shuttle gave us the ability to visit the places we desired easily. As an example when in Vienna we wanted to ride the famous ferris wheel. We were able to walk to the park, ride the ferris wheel and stroll back on a beautiful spring day taking in the local neighborhood. Our concierge, Eddie, always had suggestions and answers as to where we could go and how we could get there.

I can't finish this review without commenting on all the staff on our ship. From the tour director, Dawn, who was knowledgeable, friendly and very talented to Monika, the girl who cleaned our room daily (and I have to add it sparkled and so did she), the staff was always pleasant, courteous and helpful. More than anything we were always greeted with a friendly smile wherever we went on the ship.
