The reasoin we chose this cruise was becausethe itinerary looked interesting, it also allowed for 2 extra nights ,at the end of the cruise, in our favourite European City-Budapest. We hadn't been there for 11 years since our Daughter moved back to Britain, so it was areal trip down memory lane.We were picked up at Munich airport and taken to the ship at Nuremberg. We were given a lovely lunch and then our room was ready. Then after unpacking we had time to go around Nuremberg thanks to the courtesy bus.We then had the official tour next day It really is a beautiful city.. We have previously sailed with Viking on the Rhine and really enjoyed the experience so had no doubts when we booked with them again. We we were not disappointed. Food is good, service excellent, trips are well organised. The ports on the Rhine are at beautiful German towns which are easy to navigate, There was always time to explore independently after the excursions. Even when we docked in Vienna, some went off to the opera but for those who stayed we had a little drama. There was a smoke alarm. We were moved swiftly and then temporarily transferred on to an adjoining Viking boat- there we were given free drinks for the night, the pianist played our favourite tunes and it turned into a party with dancing and singing. At the end of the cruise we were transferred to a lovely Hotel in the Castle District with stunning views over Budapest. All in all money well spent
