After doing some research and consulting our travel agent, Viking and the itinerary looked to be ideal for our desire to see several European countries on one trip. The Viking Eir was launched earlier in the year so it was literally brand new. The ship layout and the furnishings were excellent. Meal service was also well above our expectations. Though there was a buffet for breakfast and lunch, you could also order from the menu. Dinner specials changed every evening but other items off the menu were also available. We appreciated that the tours were offered in a standard and a more relaxed version for those of us getting up in age and less mobile. Ship staff were courteous, friendly and always eager to help.
Our cabin, though compact, was well laid out so it seemed more spacious. There was ample closet and dresser drawer space for clothes storage. Cabins were kept immaculate and fresh towels and toiletries were refreshed at least twice per day. The Veranda suite which we chose was perfect for viewing as we sailed wither we sat outside or just observed through the large sliding door from our cabin.
Our tour director gave in depth presentations on our ports of call on the previous day for those interested in history and significant features. A condensed version was given prior to disembarking for the shore excursion along with other pertinent details. There we met our tour host who communicated with us via a compact radio so no difficulty hearing their dialogs on the places visited.
Cabin was laid out efficiently to make it feel more spacious.
Because our flight was delayed, we went straight to the ship and took a nap.
Excellent tour of Cathedral and time to do some exploring on our own.
Stunning ride over the river on a tram and wonderful view of the river and city. Tour was very interesting.
Another great place to view the city from high above the Neckar River. A delightful city.
A most charming city. Flowers everywhere and grand early European architecture.
