We greatly enjoyed the Rhine River cruise we took in 2015. Everything was planned thoroughly and went smoothly from the time we were picked up at the Basil airport to when we were taken to the Amsterdam airport.
This cruise along the Danube went just as well. We greatly appreciated having a veranda cabin which was larger than the French balcony cabin we had in 2015. The food onboard is exceptionally good. We had a number of special menus featuring local dishes, along with two teas. The service is excellent. As second time travelers, we were treated to a special cocktail party which was a very nice way to meet others who appreciated Viking's great service. You are free to sit wherever you want at any meal which gives you the opportunity to meet more of your fellow travelers. Since Viking longships only hold 190 passengers, you have an opportunity to meet almost everyone.
There were interesting onboard activities, along with informative guided tours at each port. The additional tours were intriguing, although we only took one of those on this trip. We are thinking of taking this cruise again to take advantage of the all-day tours to Munich and Prague. It is hard to come back to the ordinary world after being treated like a queen for a week. Four of my friends have signed up for this cruise later this year. I gave them my customer number which not only saved them money on their cruise, but will save money for me on my next Viking River Cruise! We also are considering an Viking ocean cruise in the future.
Enjoyed the extra space after being in a French balcony cabin in 2015. The veranda was nice to sit on and watch the world go by us. I love the heated floors in the bathroom.
The history we learned from our guide was very educational. The palace itself is quite interesting.
Our guide was very knowledgeable. She took us to the Spanish Riding Academy just as the stallions were being taken through the alley to their training ring. It was an unforgettable experience.
Our guide was outstanding. I learned a lot about the history of Budapest and of Hungary.
