We have taken eight Viking River Cruises. We chose the Elbe River because we had not done it before. We travel extensively in eastern and western europe on our own and only in the last few years have begun to cruise.

We left from Berlin and before we left we visited Berlin on our own. We had been to Berlin before but really enjoyed this visit. This cruise was just fantastic. The ship was older but very well maintained and comfortable. There were 112 passengers and the crew treated us as though we were the only ones on board. The hotel manager, and front desk people were extraordinary in the level of service they provided. The chef came out before and during dinner every night to describe dinner and then to check on the success of the meal. Outstanding!!!

By the end of the cruise, we felt we knew this entire crew. The degree of personalized service and attention to detail--wedding and birthday celebrations--was so well done. We were treated very kindly. Read more
