We have only cruised Carnival in the past (actually just started to cruise in 2015 and this made our 3rd cruise already with one planned in April 2016 on RC) but wanted to try a new cruise line. So we booked the 7 day Christmas cruise on the Norwegian Jade 2015.

LOVED sailing out of the Houston port instead of the Galveston Port. The process was much less chaotic and crowded. I hate that this port is no longer being utilized.

We had a balcony room. It was clean and the couch converted to a bed and the other bed dropped from the ceiling. Unfortunately, it was ALL in front of the balcony sliding doors. So once the beds were turned down for the evening, getting out onto the balcony required a bit of contortionism. There was ample closet space, but not much countertop space for girls to do hair/make-up etc at the same time. But there were several shelves available.

Clean. Lil crowded with 4 people in the room. Ample closet space.

We had the standard balcony room. You have 4 shelves right behind the entry door. Then a 2 door hanging closet with dual level hanging spots. Then 2 more shelves above 3 pull out avg size drawers. Then a small corner table with the coffee maker. The TV is above that.

On the left as you come in is the wall then the bathroom door. The bathroom is tight. With 2 glass small shelves above the single sink small countertop with a full mirror. The sliding glass door immediately to your right for a small 2-1/2' x 3' (approx) standing shower (no tub). The nozzle is removable to make it easy to wash little ones though! Directly to the left of the small 2x2 standing area in front of the sink was another sliding glass door to the toilet. I have small walkin closets at home larger than this whole bathroom area. But, it gets the job done.

The bed was comfortable. There is a side table on only one side of the bed. The small 2 person couch folds out into a bed. Above that another bed drops from the ceiling. The attendant was great about putting it up after we left the room and dropping it down each evening. There is a small table and mirror with blow dryer just before you walk out onto the balcony. We used it as the catch all table when we returned to the room each day. It was small and cluttered easily. The chair tended to be in the way that sat at the small corner table. Especially when the beds were made out and dropped from the ceiling.

The attendant was great. He kept things tidy and clean. No complaints.

My only complaint... when our Travel Agent had a cake delivered to our room as a "Thank you" for using her to book our cruise... they brought forks but no plates. :) it was a single layer strawberry filled 8" cake. (it was yummy). But since there were no plates, my Hubby and kids dove in and just ate it family style!!! We were on vacation and not having plates was NOT going to ruin our fun!!!!

Store your luggage under the bed to save room.

Port Reviews

Houston

Great embarkation. Easy and quick.

Cozumel

We didn't do an excursion this time. We just went shopping in the area. Great time and great deals for gifts!

Roatan

If you don't do an excursion, STAY in the port area that is gated in. My 15 yr old daughter and I wanted to shop in the small shops outside the port tourist area (we literally walked out of the gated area and they were 15 ft away!).

Once out of the tourist gated port area, we were followed by a guy. It creeped us out. And I am a 5' 10" woman that is NOT shy. I am not easily scared, nor is my daughter. But he followed us to 7 lil shops waiting outside of each, every time!!!!

We then understood and noticed upon rapidly returning to the gated tourist port area, there were armed guards/police at the entrance from the street checking to ensure only cruise ship persons were admitted into the area.

Yep... I would recommend an excursion if you come to Roatan.

Other than that... the water is the most beautiful I've ever seen in my life. I wish there was a beach area connected to the port we stopped at that we could just walk onto. Apparently there is another port utilized in the area that has this feature from the internet research I did prior to us sailing.
