I have cruised several times with Carnival and Have been a great advocate for cruising. This trip was in fact a graduation gift for my granddaughter and her family, a total of 8 people. BUT, this ship was the biggest disappointment ever. When we arrived in our room the room steward happened to be in the hallway. He introduced himself and ask when we would like our room cleaned, morning or afternoon as he could only get to it once daily and wanted to accommodate us. I was surprised at the question as always before our room had been freshened twice daily. After thinking about it we decide that nite during our dinner hour at 6 pm would probably be best. He did go in while we were at dinner and even left one of the towel animals once, but we often dealt with not having enough towels and wash cloths. We ask for a bucket of ice and were told he was getting people checked in and would get back with us soon.

My daughter in the adjoining room came over and ask where were the hair dryers. Imagine our surprise when we were told that he had only 6 or 8 and would give her one but might have to come back to get it for another cabin to share. There had always been hair dyers in our rooms on previous cruises. After waiting an hour for ice, I finally called room service and had a bucket of ice and some cokes delivered to our room. The steward came by and said he was glad to see we got some ice and he would keep it filed with ice. He brought ice only twice during the week and I got tired of asking. Also, there were two bottles of water in the room and while waiting for ice and cokes, we opened and used the water in the room. However, that nite the steward brought two smaller bottles of water that were free for our use. We, unfortunately, had to pay for the water we drank. Why they could not have put the "free" water In the room at the same time as the other water is confusing to me.

We roomed aft on the ship and the entire week only two of the four elevators worked. This was awful trying to get to dinner at nite as these were the only elevators we could use.

Port Reviews

Amber Cove (Puerto Plata)

We took a sight seeing and shopping cruise. The sight seeing was good but there was not enough local shopping.

Grand Turk

It is absolutely beautiful here and so close to the ship for a wonderful beach day.
