My wife and I travel, I mean a lot. We do not always cruise. This was our 6th cruise and first with Norwegian Cruise lines. Previously we have been on Holland America, Celebrity and Royal Caribbean. Each of those cruises was longer than this one. This was a unique trip because it was our first cruise taking our kids, 11,9 and 6. We have some flexibility in our work schedules but lining up the kids, school and sports commitments is difficult at times. Also this was spur of the moment, I mean like my wife and I first talked about it Thursday morning in Salt Lake City and by Saturday we were getting on the Jade in Houston. Two cabins, five people, a heck of a deal we booked it and I was all in. I love being spontaneous!

Embarkation and Safety brief was the easiest we have ever had. I mean quick. So now what? Embarkation party anyone!? Lets get a drink... Wait no my card is not working, try my wife's, nope. I am sorry sir your going to have to go to guest services. No problem, I know it is all working on my end, I will pop down and get it cleared up... Nope. Not standing in that line, back to the now "dry" party, I will fix it later. Well later became five trips to guest services later. Five trips to guest services so they could turn on my card. You know the card you need to buy anything on board... Twice I was handled roughly, once the lady actually got annoyed at my questions, even though I explained that her colleagues had said it was handled multiple times. That lead to a request for a manager which produced some assistant nobody from finance that said it was system error, oh and apologized. So that took till Friday afternoon... we got off Saturday morning.

Look cruising is what you make it, any trip is. I do not need someone to generate a good time for me nor do I expect it. I think my family could have fun anywhere and I mean it. I just really can't get off a boat with onboard credits unused because my ship card wouldn't charge the whole trip and almost five hundred dollars charged to my credit card (so we know that worked) and feel good about it.
