Where do i start? What a great cruise. Some of the criticisms I have read are totally unjustified. Yes it is an older ship, but tired definitely not. We arrived on a warm spring day and parked at the car park by the terminal. Very convenient and easy. Checked in around 1130 with no queues. We had suite 9212 so we were directed to the VIP area for snacks. No time for these as Patrick our concierge arrived to escort us onto the ship. It was great to see him again as we had sailed with him on the Norwegian Pearl 3 years ago. He is the best! Straight to Cagneys for cocktails and lunch. Staterooms available almost straight away. After a good lunch down to our aft Penthouse with a huge balcony. A separate bedroom with a whirlpool bath and get this, a window out onto the ocean as you soak in the tub. Separate shower and toilet. The bedroom has mirrored ceilings and the ultimate in opulence. All with paintings of Venice around the suite. A few issues were quickly sorted by our butler the happy smiling Teodoro. He was our friend and helper along with Patrick for the next week. Sailaway on our balcony on time with champagne at the ready. 3 dolphins followed us out at the back of the ship. What a great start and a good luck omen for the rest of the cruise. We had all drinks included as part of the suite package and all the speciality restaurants. Our favourite was Le Bistro which never failed to impress. Food and ambience was excellent. Cagneys also impressed with awesome steaks for sure. Least favourite was La Trattoria. Food mediocre and no atmosphere. Just didnt come across as an italian restaurant. It needs a revamp to look the part and BE italian. One thing that always impresses with Norwegian is the crew. From the Captain downwards every staff member had a smile and a greeting for us. It is a credit to the Captain for his running of the ship and Armando the hotel director for his big smiles and character that makes it all work. The Spirit is aptly named and very well run. Champagne Charlies is the best bar (well for us) and outside the Bier Garden. Very very good live bands by the pool. Ship was spotless and we loved it. Would definitely cruise on the spirit again.
