Voyager of the seas 3-15

We got this cruise as a "freebie" with our points on the RCL Visa Card. That was about the only way we were going to be able to cruise in this economy. We parked at Dolphin parking and they shuttled us to the dock quickly. It was $40 for the week. Boarding was very easy, as we are Diamond+ and that made it very easy. The ship was in good shape and sailed on time, despite the poring rain and full ship. It is like watching the keystone cops or the three stooges on the dock with the workers loading the baggage. They did not cover many of the carts and the bags were soaked. They dropped them into puddles, lost carts that broke loose, ran over a dropped bag and even crashed into each other spilling several carts. Our bag was gone through and a book was missing. Go figure..... I like the food on RCL. I know food is subjective, but I keep coming back as I do like it. Lobster was good, so was the beef. The Mai Mai was good as well. Deserts as always deserve a try. Our service was very good. Juan was the waiter and Elvis (no joke) was the assistant waiter. Both did an outstanding job. The "jammer" is what it is and you can always find something to eat. You will not starve and if not careful, find the scale at home is in error of your weight. Cozumel. After all these trips there, it is still a great port. We did some shopping in the back areas as they have the best prices and will haggle even further. Never felt unsafe at any point. Grand Cayman. Cayman's is never one of my favorite ports. We did take a tour, but as with most I have taken there it fell short of being very good. We went to the pirate cave thingy and were suppose to go to a blowhole on the beach, but the driver turned us away from it saying the tide was low and headed to show us 7 mile beach. Oh boy, sand. The new port they have is much better than the old one. Unfortunately it was the same old indifferent workers and tour operators. As I said, this is not my favorite port.

Mo Bay. While we have been there several time, we decided to try a new tour. Outamenti. It was suppose to be a 3 hour tour, but took 5 and did we have fun. The Outamenti thingy is really hokey, but fun in its own way. We toured Falmouth where the new RCL port is to be built to handle the Oasis. Typical Jamaican town I am afraid. The guide went on and on about something called "Patties." Finally she asked if we could stop and she would buy us all one to try. DW and I tried the beef one. It is kind of like a baked pie with a flaky cheese crust. Also in keeping with Jamaica it was nice and spicy. Oh yeah was she right, those things were GOOD! I will definitely be looking for them on any return trip! We stopped at a store at Doctor Cave beach area and then went on the craft market. I have long wanted to go there, but had never plucked up the courage to. It is NOT as bad as I had thought. Yes, they were aggressive, but did accept a polite no. We were not able to stay as long as we were allowed as most in the party quickly got back on the van. It was a bit too much for them. I guess I am becoming an Arab trader and loved it. Oh well, a reason to go back I guess.

Cabin Review

Deluxe Oceanview Stateroom with Balcony

Cabin E2

Room was small but just fine for two. Bathroom was way small, but the circular sliding doors on the shower was a nice break from the clingy curtain of old and made the shower useable.
