MSC Musica

Although I have experienced some of the ports of call in the past (on a Suez transit to Dubai on QM2) I wanted to experience a 'standard' 7-day Dubai returned trip. And in my opinion MSC is better than Costa and RCI that also operate here, though Aida may be interesting as an alternative choice.

It is always a pleasure to start the cruise in Dubai, a destination of high interest. MSC Musica sailed on 26 March, scheduled for 20:00 hrs but left at an even later time, as the first call Abu Dhabi is close by. We were allowed to embark at 11am for a cruise that depart very late. This is very unusual and generous on the part of MSC and this early embarkation is unmatched by other cruise lines including 5-star ships. The Muscica is a sister ship of Magnifica that I cruised only a few months ago and it has all the facilities I want no less than even bigger ships: the ship is large enough if not even 'too large', a larger ship adds nothing except more people to queues. My cabin 9044 is a smaller balcony, a bit small but adequate.

Despite the late departure we arrived at Abu Dhabi at 4am. Because of restriction of movement in the pier area a free shuttle bus was offered by the authority and it is good that we were taken to the Abu Dhabi Mall, virtually in town centre. The capital of UAE is of the same interest as of Dubai - a shopping haven, but lesser in scale. All-aboard time was 22:00 and we had adequate time to explore Abu Dhabi, but the already hot weather is not too comfortable to linger long.

Balcony Stateroom

Cabin B3

I booked late and can get only a smaller balcony room and it is a bit squeezed, though t is clean and house-keeping is good.
