Awesome pizza!!
Great pools! The two main pools are deep with absolutely no shallow end, so bring a puddle jumper for your toddler or she will be stuck using hot tubs when you want to hang out together in the main pool area. Must bring puddle jumper for the potty-trained but not-independent swimmers! The kiddie pool is way in the back. There is a very small mid-depth family pool in the back near the kiddie pool and teens hot tub.
Buffet wasn't as tasty as our carnival cruise, but that's okay.
This was a terrific cabin. There was a lifeboat outside our window which obstructed our view downward, but we could see across the top of it and see the shoreline--awesome. We sometimes heard far-away banging from an exterior/deck door on the floor below, but it didn't bother us since we weren't in the cabin much and slept soundly when we were. The banging was even louder in (and located just under) E425, which had a similar view. We didn't lose sleep over it, but it was quite obvious in E425. Our relatives stayed in E419 (even better view) and E417 (best view of the 4 cabins--not obstructed when looking straight out). Obviously these latter two rooms would also be preferable as they were further from that banging door on deck 7.
We got off the ship and took the Hornblower ferry over to Coronado. I think it's $5 each way. Near the pier are a lot of shops, and one of these is a convenient bike rental shop. We took the whole family (8 people counting relatives) just a few city blocks round trip and then a little ways along the sea in a surrey (very funny since it only has one low gear, so sometimes the kids got out and ran ahead!). After this, we played at the beach for a little bit before taking the ferry home. Simple but very fun and memorable!
We paid for a tour to the blowhole on our first trip. This second time we just walked right over to the cultural center building (Plaza Civica?) for some architecture sight-seeing and quick shopping. We also walked down a big shopping street for a few blocks before walking back to port. Not a big deal, even with our kids ages 3, 7, and 9.
