Our family of four are Diamond Crown and Anchor members and have sailed on Royal 14 times. We love the cruise line and are familiar with the ships and life on board.

Two days before we sailed we were offered an upgrade from our two adjoining interior staterooms on deck 3 to a junior suite on deck 10 with a refund of the cost of one of the interiors. It was our first visit from the upgrade fairy and we jumped at the chance to try a JS for the first time. We were given room 1086 which has received some bad reviews in regards to noise but we found no issues with the cabin. We would happily book this room again without hesitation. It was large enough for the four of us with an oversized balcony, large bathroom with tub and a walk in closet. There was plenty of storage - we had many empty cabinets.

The ship itself shows her age in a few places but she is still holding her own. She is one of the smaller RC ships but we have found that we enjoy these much more than the bigger options. There is much more passenger to passenger interaction and it is much easier and quicker to get from one location to another. All the expected RC venues are there, with the exception of those you would find on the Promenade of the larger ships.

Cabin JS

We were given room 1086 which has received some bad reviews in regards to noise but we found no issues with the cabin. There was some noise during the day but it did not keep us up at night or wake us in the morning. We would happily book this room again without hesitation. It was large enough for the four of us with an oversized balcony that can accommodate a lounger if desired, large bathroom with tub and a walk in closet. There was plenty of storage - we had many empty cabinets. The sofa bed wasn't too uncomfortable considering it's a sofa bed. Our two kids slept on it for 10 days without complaint.

Port Reviews

St. Maarten

The 2 1/2 hour tour is only 30 minutes. The remaining time is spent travelling to and from the boat.

The lady in charge appeared irritated that she had to be working. The other two (diver and captain) seemed to be much more pleasant.

While the views underwater are amazing it is not a tour I would do again or recommend.
