This was our 2nd ever cruise, the first being 3 nights for my wife to decide if it was for her.
Oceania Riviera is an amazing ship from end to end. We had a Penthouse Suite on deck 10. The size was at least as good as many 5 star hotels we have stayed in, add to that the large veranda with comfortable chairs we had 7 nights of luxury all to ourselves. We had a butler who was so helpful although even the housekeeping itself was excellent with easily 3 visits a day. We never ran out of towels, toiletries or any other supplies.
The ports of call were ok. Trujillo needs much work to make it a worthwhile port, Belize City a bit better and Cozumel is really quite commercial. The winner was Key West which was very pretty, fairly quiet and a nice place to be.
Our Penthouse Suite was just as good as it claimed to be. Huge by ship standards, and very well appointed. Bed was one of the most comfortable ever and the abundance of towels and toiletries made the stay very enjoyable. Aircon system was not the best ever and had to play with the settings to be comfortable. Lighting was good as were the mirrors and a couple of spare sockets for chargers. Waking up to see the open see was great and we often left the doors open in the day as we enjoy the sea breeze.
We took a private taxi to and from the ship from the airport. Its a fixed rate of US$27.00 ! Takes 15-20 mins max and very easy.
A busy Mexican port. Loads of shops selling the same as the next one. a bit of pressurised selling but a pretty place to see. The ship docked in the main centre and it is designed so you had to walk past all the tourist shops at the port before you can venture out to the city.
A nice day out
