  3. Celebrity Eclipse
This was our 3rd cruise and first with Celebrity. We were travelling with first time cruisers and had them very excited about the experience on board a cruise ship. Unfortunately Celebrity Eclipse did not live up to our expectations. We were booked in Aqua class and were led to believe we were going to be given an upgraded experience on this cruise. Yes we received priority boarding but that is were priority ended. Our room was great but no bigger than an cabin with a balcony. We were given access to Blu restaurant which was amazing and the food was always fantastic. Our cabin staff could not do enough for us they were great. The Activities: what activities???? There were no fun little competitions that we had been offered on Princess and Royal Caribbean. Not even a shuffleboard court. The lawn area offered free play but most of the lawn area was roped off for our cruise with strict rules for people wanting to use the lawn. The Service: the majority of staff on the ship don't know how to smile. If your asked a question you got a blank look as if they didn't understand or couldn't be bothered as it was all to hard. Dining: The Oceanview Cafe was very repetitive ... Who wants to eat the same thing every day??? We also ate In the main dining room which was ok. Also we were pressured constantly to eat in the specialty restaurants but from our experience they didn't live up to the spiel they give you when trying to get your booking. Blue was amazing but only available to a few cruisers. The British pub fare at one of the bars was great too but this was not promoted and I doubt many people tried it. The average age of the cruisers was 75-80 years old and there was never a spot available around the pool as most people seemed to settle themselves there to sleep the day away. We did partake in the shore excursions but these were not organised properly and we were left standing around for half an hour each time not sure where we were supposed to be or what we were supposed to be doing. Our tickets were snatched out of our hands by celebrity staff and we were ordered around like children. Time wasted when we should have been enjoying our activity. Shuttles should have been supplied for the older people who found it difficult to walk the length of the pier. We had no problems with disembarkation but found a few other people asking us what they should be doing. Casino: mmmm they charge you 5% to withdraw cash from your card that you will probably end up losing in the casino anyway ... Not fair as both ATM's were out of order during the cruise. Bingo - out of 2800 passengers only around 30-50 people played Bingo - this should have been a warning. On the other cruise ships there has been a snowball jackpot which grows each day and on the final day someone has to win it. Usually around $6,000. Not on Eclipse. They offered a jackpot of around $700 on the final day. We asked what happened to the jackpot and they just looked at us and would not answer. In summary this was a very disappointing cruise for us. The places we visited were beautiful but the cruise was spoiled by the onboard experience. We will never sail with Celebrity again.

Very disappointed with Celebrity Eclipse.
