This was the second trip that I had taken on the Crown Princess in three months. The first was with a friend in December. We had an interior cabin and took the set dining option. This one, with my daughter in March, we had a balcony and anytime dining. The reason I booked the second cruise was purely economic. The cost of a balcony in March was almost $200pp less than that of the interior in December. The itinerary wasn’t anything special, but a nice way to introduce my daughter to cruising for her spring break.
Embarkation in San Pedro was amazing. I will give Princess five stars for that one. Well organized, rapid and seamless.
Toured the Sanctuary and decided against the $40 cover charge per person. Had there been more children on board, our decision may have been different.
This cabin was well situated for elevator access to the areas that we frequented. Short trip down the hall to the main elevator for the Piazza and pool areas. The cabin is diagonal from the laundry and that was pretty handy for those quick ironing touch ups and such.
Having a sliding door on the balcony made access and enjoyment easier. No worrying about the door slamming behind you or trying to prop it open while situating your items on the table.
We did experience a problem with a leak from the fire suppression system, but when the steward was notified, it was quickly remedied.
There was an odor of sewage on the balcony while we were in port in San Pedro. It was never present in the room.
Layout was standard. Middle tier balcony open to those above you and overlooking two balconies below you. Satisfactory closet and shelving space in hallway between bathroom and bedroom.
We booked an independent culinary tour and loved the experience. We were able to tour the town with the locals and see some of the off the beaten path locations. Very proud and friendly local people.
Once we got away from the hassles and hawkers in the port area, it was a very nice town. We found lots of ex-pats willing to help guide you around. Just look for the blue shirts!
Not enough time to truly enjoy the area. Time enough to search out the final souvenirs, enjoy the sand between your toes and have a drink under an umbrella!
Had to take a quick detour to Manhattan Beach Apple Store to fix an iPhone issue. Great experience with Uber and inexpensive detour from LAX as it is only three miles from airport.
