My husband, my two kids, and I took this cruise because it was advertised as a family friendly vacation. Much to my dismay, when we arrived at the ship, it was overrun with college students. Apparently, this cruise was advertised to them as the "College Party Cruise (CPC)". They received "CPC" t-shirts when they boarded the ship, and some of the activities on the daily planner even said "CPC recommended", so Norwegian was obviously aware of the type of cruise this was going to be. Nowhere on their website was it indicated that this was a cruise for college partying. None of the other parents or people over 30 I spoke to on the cruise had any idea that it was this type of cruise.
These young adults stayed drunk most of the time, spouting profanities constantly, and making many areas of the ship inaccessible to children. My girls are 9 and 12 years old. I'm sure you can imagine their disappointment to not be able to use the pool at all due to the inappropriate behavior of the mass of drunk people. Even the kiddie pool at the front of the ship was full of drunk college students most of the time.
I have been to several all-inclusive resorts in the Caribbean, and despite the free alcohol, they were nothing like this wild cruise. On this cruise, when we weren't on excursions, my children were able to go to the dining room, our stateroom, or the kids' club. I was afraid of the language and behaviors they would see and hear anywhere else on the ship.
The cabins were terribly small and cramped, but they were clean and well maintained.
The beach was decent, but not great. We booked the all-inclusive package so we wouldn't have to pay for food and drinks individually, but then the waiters ignored us because we weren't paying. I wouldn't do it again.
