Well this was our first NCL cruise, having gone on Carnival our other two trips. We found the cruise lines very comparable.
Embarkation was fine, a bit of a line but went smoothly, on boat with in half hour and we got to port around 1:00pm. Can't recommend paying the $100pp for the NCL transportation since we arrived at 10:30am and had to wait for a few flights to arrive before we could get the bus out. Waited about 1.5 hours in airport. No biggie but would rather not linger and would also like to pick up some water to take aboard.
Our stateroom was an ocean view on deck 5 (2nd from bottom) and it was perfect. Room #5084 was purchased as midship and was the first room in hallway after the aft elevators. Quick trip above to Alizar, one of two main dining rooms. Also the casino and the multi-faceted bar area with Carlos singing was on deck 6. Easy access baby! The room, though smaller than Carnival was great! Lots of storage for my wife and I and bathroom area so well laid out it seemed larger! Our room attendant was David, and he was awesome! Always treated us with a towel animal included some new ones for us!!
Great location and well laid out cabin. Awesome room stewart, thanks for the flying bat David!! Roomier than the sq. footage would indicate.
A bit out of the way and desolate.
Not a fan of this port, get out right on main st with touristy vendors and restaurants priced too high. Average food. Go off the beaten path!
Waited on ship by pool for first 4 hours!! Glorious. It took many 2 hours to get off the ship. Tendering process here is slow because then anchor so far off shore.Booking an excursion through the ship gives you priority which helps. If you don't book an excursion there isn't much to see. Our friends however stumbled across a cab who drove them all over the city for $25, thats the way to go.
Great little port. Loved the area, shops, etc. Almost rented a scooter for $35 (4 hours into the day, the price was more than double earlier I heard) which would have been fun. Instead started walking out of port into town which seemed safe. A young fellow offered to be our guide and it was nice. He explained things to us, took photos and offered to take us to see monkeys, etc. all within a few min. of the port. We tipped him $5 after 45min and he seemed happy with that! Thanks George!
