My husband and I disembarked the Celebrity Silhouette yesterday after a 7 day eastern itinerary to celebrate our 20th anniversary. We decided to try Celebrity after finding a great "Go Best" deal that included a premium beverage plan, OBC, gratuities, wifi and a balcony cabin. We decided that upgrading to Aqua was not worth the extra cost for our first time trying Celebrity. We were very pleased overall with the Celebrity product for the price.

We flew in a day early and stayed at the Holiday Inn Express Dania Beach. The hotel was clean and the staff courteous. The hotel shuttle to Port Everglades though only held 10-12 people at a time with all the luggage. After waiting almost 2 hours for a shuttle, one showed up and was accosted by a big group of irritated cruisers. I was unsuccessful at hailing a cab earlier and the cab phone number had 29 callers ahead in the queue. By chance a cab drove up behind the overwelmed shuttle and I hurried over and asked if he already had a fare. He said no and I quickly replied that we would be his fare. There were 7-8 cruise ships in port on Sunday and traffic was gridlocked. Luckily the cab driver took us a back way and avoided a long line to get through the port gates. We rewarded him with a very nice tip and were grateful.

We arrived at the Celebrity terminal at about 12:30 p.m. There were no lines and check in took more than 15 minutes. We were handed a glass of bubbly and toasted the beginning of our cruise. The Silhouette was very clean and modern with an understated decor. Every staff member we encountered was helpful and smiled. We ate lunch outside overlooking the other ships. The buffet took some time to get used to where everything was located. Cabins were ready around 1:30 pm. We met our cabin steward the first day and saw him everyday afterwards. The balcony size was quite adequate compared to other ships. The bathroom was updated and provided ample storage. There is a night light of sorts that never turns off in the bathroom so no one would trip in there in the middle of the night. The closet had enough hangers and there are three deep drawers and two overhead storage cabinets. I do wish however the cabin could have been cooler. We turned the a/c all the way to the coldest setting and we were still warm on occasion. I finally asked the cabin steward to keep my drapes drawn when the afternoon sun hit our port side in order to keep it cool.

Cabin Review

Deluxe Veranda 2C

Cabin 2C

The balcony size was very good compared to other ships. The chairs on the balcony recline and there is a nice size table as well. The view was unobstructed. The bed is situated near the balcony. The bathroom was updated and provided ample storage. There is a night light of sorts that never turns off in the bathroom so no one would trip in there in the middle of the night. The closet had two robes and enough wooden hangers. There are three deep drawers and two long overhead storage cabinets. There were two electrical outlets at the desk and one situated far about the bathroom sink. I didn't notice it until the last day. I do wish however the cabin could have been cooler. We turned the a/c all the way to the coldest setting and we were still warm on occasion. I finally asked the cabin steward to keep my drapes drawn when the afternoon sun hit our port side in order to keep it cool while we were out of the cabin.
