This is only our 2nd cruise. Admittedly we are hotel snobs and choose the nicest 4 and 5 star hotels when traveling, the Carnival Freedom does not fit this bill at all. The cabin is down right depressing and very dated for a ship that is only 9 years old! Air conditioning was pretty much non existent and guest services only provided a fan upon complaining! We were unable to sleep most nights due to being so hot! Decor was just depressing and TV was super tiny and they only showed the same 3 movies all week, so in cabin entertainment was non existent.

Food was surprisingly very good, we had no complaints at all with food. I complained about a few things during the trip and later that day or the next day guest services left something in our cabin as an "apology"; however, cookies do not compensate for a very hot cabin and lack of sleep for a week! Loved the cruise director, Malcom, he made the trip very enjoyable.

As for shows, there was one set of moderately talented performers and they did a different really hokey show every night. In comparison to our first cruise on Royal Caribbean, the ship was definitely lacking in the number and quality of entertainment options onboard! They have bingo, but they charge you $30 to $40 to play 3 games! Casino is small with very few $1 or higher denomination slot machines. I earned free drinks after playing for awhile, but drink service was a joke, it never took less than 45 minutes to get a drink! Pools were super small and just didn't look clean so we never went in!

Port Reviews

Cozumel

Excursion to Isla Pasión via Twister boat. Great excursion, great guides, the Twister boat was just awesome! Nice lunch, beautiful beach, a great day!

Grand Cayman (Georgetown)

Worst excursion of trip, not much to see, trip to "hell" was a joke, its a bunch of rocks with a tiny over crowded store called "hell", a total waste! Didn't care for the Cayman Islands based on what we saw, would not return!

Montego Bay

Took the kayaking / zip link tour, this was awesome and we loved Jamaica, would love to return for a longer visit, the locals were so friendly, our tour guides were wonderful and the scenery was beautiful!
