We traveled from Eastern Oregon to Tampa the day before the cruise and stayed overnight at the Tampa Best Western. It's an older motel, but was very nice. My wife and I are both retired, and it was our first cruise in years. We had no expectations except fun and relaxation. Both expectations were met. I have read several negative reviews, but experienced few of the problems that are mentioned. No vacation anywhere is ever perfect, but this cruise was nearly that for us if you allow for occasional glitches that happen everywhere. We ate at complimentary restaurants only, and felt no need to dine at the specialty ones as we found the food and choices at the complimentary ones to be more than adequate. We found all staff to be helpful and friendly.
We enjoyed our balcony stateroom on deck 9 just forward of mid-ship. Our room steward was very attentive and friendly. Not sure why some had the negative experiences that they mentioned. I have dealt with the public all my life and found that personal attitude toward others has an amazing effect on your interaction with people. I'm not suggesting that this was always the problem, but may have had an effect, especially if you are looking for negatives.
We found the entertainment to be very good, with lots of variety to choose from.
Nice cabin, near mid-ship. Everything was clean and well kept. The room steward was very friendly and attentive. Not much more to add.
Enjoyed visiting friends, and the beautiful white sand West Bay Beach
Walked off and enjoyed the city of Cozumel on our own
