Cabin: Family Oceanview Stateroom with Large Picture Window

Because of a great price for a solo traveler, I booked the 2/21 7 day cruise New York to Florida and Bahamas. While onboard I was having such a great time, I decided to repeat the cruise the following week and made it a back to back along with the 2/28 sailing. I was in an ocean view cabin the first week. It was fine for a solo traveler. The second week, that cabin was unavailable, but with the ocean view guarantee pricing, I was put in a family ocean view cabin which is basically a mini suite without the balcony. A cabin for up to 5 travelers for just me was fantastic. Embarkation first day was very smooth. Upon return to NYC after the first week all I had to do was pack my bags, leave them in the cabin and they would be moved to my new cabin for me. I was able to disembark and spend time in NYC and as an "In Transit" traveler I had priority boarding to get back on for the second leg. Final disembarkation was a breeze as I carried of my own luggage.

The trip down to Florida both weeks was smooth sailing. Enjoyed all the ship activities. Rock of Ages (which I have seen many times) was great as usual and Burn the Floor was another great production with high energy dancing and singing. The staff was great. My room steward in both cabins did an excellent job. As a solo traveler I met each night with the solo group. Antuan from the cruise director staff was our coordinator had he is great. He set us up for group dining and got us our show reservations. He also taught the Latin Fitness classes (his form of Zumba) on each sea day. Since I had the Ultimate Beverage Package I spent a lot of time at the bars. My favorite was Shakers. The staff was excellent, particularly Jimmy and Irma who I got to know very well these two weeks. I had no issues with the dining staff. I did get to Moderno, Le Bistro and La Cucina using my platinum vouchers. One thing I am not a fan of is the a la carte pricing. The prices I would have to have paid were way too high.

In Port Canaveral I went to the Florida Beer Company both weeks. Exellent tour and tastings. On the private island I took the Sandbar party boat and snorkeling both weeks. Great crew, great snorkeling and a lot of fun. In Nassau I did the Seahorse Snorkel the first week, again great crew on the boat and great snorkeling. The second week I took the See and Sea Tour. Very pleasant tour guide. And of course I spent time at Senor Frogs both weeks.

Cabin Review

Family Oceanview Stateroom with Large Picture Window

Cabin O1

The first cabin was a normal ocean view cabin. More than enough for one person. Bed was large and comfortable. Plenty of closet space and decent bathroom. The second cabin was the family ocean view. This is a cabin for up to 5. Large bed, full size couch that could open as another full size bed. Full bath and double sink. Plenty of closet and drawer space.

Port Reviews

Nassau

First a guided mini bus tour of the Island. Very informative driver and a few sight seeing stops. Then board a boat with below water level seating with large glass windows to see the beautiful fish and coral.

Nassau

Did the Seahorse Snorkel the first week. Great catamaran ride to the snorkeling spot. Plenty of fish and coral to see. Water was calm. Had a great time.

Great Stirrup Cay

Not just the snorkeling on the main beach, but the Sandbar party boat. Boat takes you to a coral reef for great snorkeling led by the boat staff. Then to a shallow sandbar where the water is no more than waist deep. You get one free rum drink and walk on the sandbar. Boat then has a cash bar that you can walk up to while still on the sand bar had have some more. Great fun.

Port Canaveral (Orlando)

A quick 5 min shuttle ride to the brewery. Then a guided tour and explanation of the brewing process, then the best part, sampling of the beers. Large variety on tap. Price includes 10 half pints or 5 full pints, plus you keep the souvenir pint glass.

New York (Manhattan)

I live near NYC so I did not need to do any excursion here. But in the time between my back to back sailings I did get off the ship and walk around Times Square, Grand Central and other parts of midtown Manhattan.
