I'm a college professor with a very early spring break, so I like to go on a cruise to get away. In 2015, I went on the Norwegian Epic 7-day cruise and stayed in one of the studios. That was a fantastic experience. The room was wonderful, and the food in the restaurants was excellent. Also, there were very few students on spring break. However, the experience on the Sky was quite different. This cruise, which offered unlimited free drinks, consisted of about 1/2 college students. That really was not a problem. They were fun to be around.
The Sky, being an older ship, was just not as nice as the Epic, particularly the cabin. It was OK, though. The bartenders worked very hard and happily kept the drinks flowing. My only real complaint is that none of my experiences in the main restaurants for dinner were very good. The food was quite mediocre. The service was usually OK, but one night it was very bad. I enjoy a slow-paced meal, but this was just poor service--drinks empty, long waits between courses, and the food wasn't very good.
We went to one show on the last night of the cruise, and it really was excellent. The singing and dancing were very high quality.
The cabin was fine. I just know that newer ships have cabins with a much better design. Also, there was only one outlet for plugging things in, so we had to take turns charging phones. If I had brought an extension cord, that would have solved the problem.
Beautiful private island. The weather was perfect the day we were there. The buffet lunch and open bars were a nice bonus!
If you just get off the boat and walk around Freeport, it's pretty boring. All that is there are shops selling touristy stuff that is all the same. We took a taxi to a beach and had a great time there.
Nassau is a nice city. We had a great time walking around town, shopping, and eating local food. A trip to Atlantis would have been fun--next time!
