We had a group of 11 on the March 7th cruise on Carnival Triumph with a total of 5 rooms, two on deck 2 and three on deck 6. We were stopped on day one to ask if we needed anything and to see if we wanted turn down services, etc. We asked for a bucket of ice which we did not get until day 3 and really only saw our room attendant when passing in the hallway. Those cute little towel animals...only saw those on the last 2 days. More than once when calling room service we received a message that they were busy and to call back.

We experienced very rough waters throughout the entire cruise which could obviously not be helped and therefore many shows and activities had to be cancelled. They made no effort to provide other types of entertainment however and the activities that were available were extremely overcrowded. On 2 occasions we paid $40 per person to play bingo and had to do so standing because it was really the only thing to do so EVERYONE was crammed into an area that was way too small. Comedy shows were standing room only as well.

Not impressed by the food at all. Best meal was the day we decided to have brunch in the dining room. Cream cheese was put out on the buffet daily for breakfast but bagels were hidden in the back and you had to know to ask if you wanted one.

Porthole

Cabin PT

Room was clean for the most part although I did find a bag under the bed that did not belong to us on the last day while trying to make sure we weren't leaving anything behind. The pink and blue bathroom scheme is very outdated. This shows as a bunk when booking but is actually one twin bed with a fold out couch. They added a mattress topper to the couch however the person sleeping there said it was terribly uncomfortable. Room and hall smelled of sewage. This room is on a lower deck at the front of the ship therefore any movement is felt more than on the upper decks and large waves are not only felt but cause a loud banging noise. I would not recommend lower decks for anyone who might possibly get sea sick for sure.

Port Reviews

Cozumel

Renting jeeps and driving around Cozumel was a blast. We stopped at all the roadside bars and beaches and even got massages on the beach.

Progreso

Awesome time at the resort and the resort staff was definitely better than the ship staff. Only negative thing is that the time you get "on the resort" also includes a 40 min bus ride to and from the resort. They should give you more time at the resort because of the long commute.

Galveston

Galveston is beautiful.
