We had been on Carnival the last five cruises and had been a bit disappointed with the crew energy on the last one. It was the Fantasy, and we were aware about it's age. The Spirit is a similar ship, small and a few years on her, but the crew was outstanding. Yes if you look hard you can find old carpet or a rust spot or two, and we were concerned with all the negative reviews. The energy and attitude was the best we had ever encountered on a cruise. The shows were better than what we had seen on Carnival and the Cruise Director GIO was great.

When we did encounter some issues with an excursion, not directly NCL fault, the excursion staff was understanding and gave us a credit with their apologies. We ate mostly in The Gardens Main Dining. Found a waiter we Herald, and asked for him each night, super service.

Only issue came on disembarkation, signed up for early as we had a long drive, they lost a cart with luggage and many people had to wait in the terminal. That was the only negative on a 7 day enjoyable vacation. We are signed up for another NCL cruise, hopefully the staff will also be as great as the Spirit's was.

Cabin ID

Small and a bit dated but comfortable.

Port Reviews

Key West

Trolley stopped at many motels along the route to pick up any passengers, created a long trip that wasted much port time. This was not worth the money or time.

Grand Cayman (Georgetown)

Snorkeling great, beach a waste, no actual beach, sand and walls with steps down to water, place was packed and just not very relaxing.

Great Stirrup Cay

Weather bad, got credit for excursion, water to rough but island very nice and a lot of choices for food.

Port Canaveral (Orlando)

Embarkation ok

Ocho Rios

Waste of money, ended up at Margaritaville, whole excursion waited an hour for a lousy cold cheeseburger. Never did get to a beach. Tour people screwed up, NCL refunded with no hassles. Excursion staff very professional.
