Star Princess 14-day "Around the Horn" cruise. February 15-29, Santiago to Buenos Aires.

This was our first cruise with Princess after many years of cruising with NCL and once with Cunard, because it offered the best itinerary. We went as a family of five. Our experiences ranged from excellent to horrific, in terms of cruising expectations. Unfortunately, the unexpected unprofessionalism of the on ship Shore Excursions Dept had put us in a state of uncertainty throughout the trip, taking the joy of cruising out of our vacation.

I will share the good experiences first. Embarkation was quick and efficient. There were two wheelchairs available, as requested, even though we arrived earlier than our designated time. The two attendants were very pleasant, even though they did not speak English. They took us directly through the lines and on board the ship. Our room was ready! We went to Horizon Court for a leisurely buffet lunch. The food was hit and miss, some very good, others tasteless. In general, food with sauces did not have much flavor except for the sauce.

Good size. Use of mirrors made room feel larger.
