This was a segment of the 180 round the world cruise. I booked because I was interested in the destination - Cape Town - and the ports of call along the west African coast. There was little to complain about on the ship, as I didn't experience any mishaps (unlike some others, as there seemed to be a high rate of injuries aboard ship, that were dealt with in a ranging matter of efficiency)

The food was the emphasis of the ship's offering. Both the MDR and the indoor / outdoor buffet, offered a great variety and high quality of food. I was especially impressed that they sourced food locally along the way, and we had the opportunity to eat some very fresh fish. People call the service slow, but I didn't find it especially so.

As others mention, this is not a ship to join for a high quality and variety of entertainment. I had seen many of acts on other ships (Azamara and Celebrity). The port lectures were better than average. Many were well entertained by Trivia, by the astronomy lectures and by the artist's corner. As also mentioned, there is not much night life on this ship. A few times 20 or so people committed to stirring up some later night dancing but mostly the ship was in the z zone around 10:30.

Port Reviews

Barbados

I was caught of guard by how lovely this place is - primarily the people who are very friendly. I enjoyed the Hastings Beach area.

Cape Town

Most beautiful city in the world, arguably.
