Having read these reviews extensively prior to taking this cruise, I really do think they say more about the reviewers than the cruises themselves.

For the price paid, I do think that this cruise represented outstanding value, and as such provided a really excellent experience.

For sure, the ship lacks the glamour and glitz of much younger sisters, so for example the bathroom was in poor condition and needed regrouting/modernising. But then the ship is perfectly comfortable, spotlessley clean, and has the advantage of a compactness and informality which allows for a very relaxed ambience and friendliness amongst both the staff and fellow passengers. I'm quite sure you could pay considerably more and find a cruise with uber gourmet food which would challenge the palate (and the wasteline/coronary arteries), but the quality of variety of the food in both restaurants/buffets was entirely adequate, and that's considering the fact that I'm a fussy eater. I always enjoyed my meals, it was plentiful and tasty, and the staff always obliging and keen to please their passengers' diets. Read more
