This was our sixth sailing on the Summit. This was the last week before her 2 week dry dock. The ship was in excellent shape, always clean. The food in the MDR and the Oceanview Cafe some of the best we have had on a cruise. Everyone on the ship went out of their way to be welcoming, personable, helpful, friendly. You were given the impression that they were so glad to have us onboard. Captain Alex was amazing. He was funny, entertaining, and made everyone feel so special. Everyone on the Summit went out of their way to make us feel so welcome. All the officers were very friendly always wanting to know if we were enjoying our cruise. Our waiters and Sommelier were very attentive which was no small task given how many people they serve.
In prior cruises we sometimes found it difficult to find seating in the Oceanview Cafe but for some reason it was not difficult on this cruise even though it was a full ship. The waiters were very quick to clean off tables. The entertainment was very good. We had an outstanding comedian. They replaced one of the production shows with a pianist who won Hollands Got Talent and she was excellent but a bit too loud. We loved the Officers vs Guests volleyball game. So much fun. The music in the Martini Bar was much better this cruise. They turned down the volume a bit which made chatting with others much easier.
Cafe al Bacio and the Gelateria were still very good. We loved hanging out there and listening to the music. There seemed to be more music groups on board and they were playing at more venues for longer times. Prior to this cruise there was only music before each of the fixed dining times. If you ate between those times at Select Dining there was no music being played anywhere for your pre dinner drink so we appreciated being able to enjoy a glass of wine with live music.
