  3. Magellan
On arriving at Tilbury for our in search of the Northern light cruise, our cases were taken porter, into the boarding area, within minutes called to board Magellan, on board quickly. Escorted to our cabin, this was a first well done CMV, cases outside waiting. M&M luggage label missing, reported to reception, flippant receptionist told us to claim on insurance, CMV does not take responsibility for luggage!!!!. On going into cabin, smell of diesel over powering, could not get in until ship sailed. When Magellan refuelled, diesel smelled appeared again and again. What brain of Britain decided to put A/C and heating controls in the ceiling is beyond comprehension. We paid for a outside cabin with a window, however the window was filthy dirty from the Amazon cruise and was not cleaned in our 14 days aboard, would have booked an inside cabin. Lack of lifts, some sections had 4 lifts only 2 working, you had to wait forever to get a lift. Walking up the stairs was like climbing a mountain, so steep, still the exercise was good. The entertainment was awful, dancers who could not keep time, singers that sang out of tune and screeched, but they thought they were fantastic, a drag act that took the micky out of a female that had lost her first husband, outrageous. Leaving the ship in port, the gangway had to be negotiated with extreme care, in some ports you had to bend so low, if you did not suffer from back problems you may now. Gangways held by rope, and very rickety, how people in wheel chairs managed God knows. In general the staff were fantastic, helpful and friendly, dining in the Kensington restaurant was fine, made better by the four other fantastic people we dinned with. Shore excursions are outrageously expensive. when we disembarked from Magellan, we spoke to a supervisor in the baggage hall regarding the missing luggage label, and was told some one took a liking to that label, but if it turns up I will post it to you.

Cabin Review

Cabin 6093
dim lighting in shower and bathroom. Plug points for hair dryer to far away from mirror. Uncomfortable mattresses and pillows. Window filthy dirty, like looking into fog. Fantastic cabin steward. In all expectable just
