Assigned replacement cruise after January Star Pride scheduled trip was cancelled because it ran aground. Management pledged to cover all airline rebooking fees and cost up to $500 per passenger, however after nearly 2 1/2 months of waiting and complaining they finally sent a check covering only the cancellation fee ($200) and disregarded costs incurred to obtain new airline tickets, which was totally the fault of the company.... apparently they have a serious cash problem.
As for the cruise, we found crew, accommodation, service and food to be acceptable; however going through the canal at night was not what we thought we paid for. Similarly Windstar's marketing as a luxury yacht was lacking credibility, deceiving at best. We did experience on this voyage exceptional service staff in the Amphora restaurant; their menu and food presentation was as good as we have experience on other cruise lines. Overall service was good.
Windstar's primary use of zodiacs for transport to shore excursions was alarming at times when moderate seas caused considerable consternation among elderly passengers. Wet landing and usually wet trip.
