Sail Date: Feb 2016
Cabin: Family Suite

We got a last-minute upgrade to a forward suite and noticed the rocking of the ship much more than on previous cruises, which were on other cruise lines and mostly in mid-ship suites and staterooms. Embarkation was also rocky, though in a different sense, as the escort who was supposed to expedite our boarding never showed up. Disembarkation was a mess, too, with long lines at the single elevator and no staff member pointing out other ways to exit. The cruise itself was pretty good overall. On the plus side, we had a great cabin attendant and some very good meals in main and specialty dining areas (but also one amazingly bad dinner in the Asian restaurant). The quality of the entertainment also varied, ranging from a hilarious stand-up comic and two good bands playing old-school rock and roll to a bunch of mediocre stage shows. Same thing for the ports: Once you get past the tourist shopping zones, they are mostly worth seeing (though our bus ride to the Mayan ruins at Chacchoben was a non-stop sales pitch). Summing it all up, this cruise was probably worth the time and money but it didn't make us likely to choose Norwegian next time.
