My wife and I cruised on the Spirit in mid February and had an absolutely lovely time. We'd booked the trip in June, based upon the size of the boat, the included beverage package and the itinerary. When we stared reading reviews in December, many of which were negative, it gave us pause. There was no reason for it, the experience was terrific.

It's probably useful to know a little about our demographic. My wife and I are in our mid sixties, I'm still working and we've cruised a total of nine times , five on Norwegian, three on celebrity and once on Holland America. It has now become a yearly getaway from the upstate New York winters.

This was as good a cruise as I've taken. Full disclosure- we were lucky enough to be upsold to stern suite 9710. If you ever get an offer, take it , it's well worth the extra dough. Having said that I would have enjoyed the cruise as much, well maybe not as much but close , if we were in the veranda stateroom we'd originally booked. There were somewhere around two thousand passengers with about nine hundred fifty crew, which provides a fairly good crew to passenger ratio. Dining rooms were good to the extent that we didn't feel compelled to go to any of the specialty restaurants.
