This was our first cruise with MSC on the Divina, I have to admit after reading some of the reviews I was unsure of what to expect but it exceeded my expectations. I have to wonder about some of the reviews I read because we certainly enjoyed it. We have cruised on other cruise lines and this ship and staff certainly held its own and even exceeded in some areas. Our embarkation went very smoothly, the staff were friendly and very pleasant. The entertainment was excellent and some of the shows in the Pantheon Theater were fabulous! If I closed my eyes at times I could have sworn I was listening to the Three Tenors singing, Tribute to the Beatles, the Michael Jackson show was great....I could go on and on. We enjoyed the lounges and we had one favorite one where "Ameritalian" duo would sing (Thank you Greg and Sonia you both were awesome!!!) The Black & White also was another favorite and loved the music in the disco.

Our room was very clean and our attendant was very good, we asked if we could have 2 programs each night at the beginning of the cruise and they were always there. We always had fresh towels. We had a squeaky closet door when it opened and when I mentioned it to our attendant it was fixed that day.

Now this for me was a very important part of cruise, I am Celiac and can't have gluten. I have to say this cruise was above and beyond any I have ever been on with my allergy. We were seated in the Villa Rosa the first evening and given menus, I asked what was gluten free...bang menu was gone and Cornel introduced himself to me, gave me a special gluten free menu ...it was like having my own waiter each night for the rest of the cruise. The food was fabulous, the portions were good to generous and their gluten free bread was very good. I drink my tea with honey, after the first evening requesting honey it was always there when I ordered tea. The dessert portions were extremely generous and my husband said their cheese cakes were some of the best he's ever tasted. The other nice thing they offered because of my allergies when I was going on excursions that included a meal the ship packed me a gluten free lunch that I requested in the am of the day of the excursion. We had no troubles with languages and the staff. I would say a good percentage (60%)of the passengers that English wasn't there first language but it still didn't stop us from meeting new people.

Cabin Review

Balcony Stateroom

Cabin B1

Our cabin was very clean, our attendant was very diligent. I thought it may have been a bit smaller than our other cruises but there weren't many left when we booked so this may have been one of the smaller balcony rooms but we honestly weren't in our rooms much. We didn't have a sofa but I usually only used a sofa on other cruises for storing my souveneirs. I did miss having a coffee maker in the room but there was always coffee available at the buffet area.

Port Reviews

Ocho Rios

We did this on our honeymoon 27 years ago and we had a blast doing it again.

Ocho Rios

Kayaked to Dunn River Falls which was only a short distance down the waterway. We had to wait for our group to go out the in the kayaks but we got to walk around the people park and we watched people swimming with the dolphins.

Aruba

We walked around and did a bit of shopping. Our main goal was to find Gouda cheese from Holland which we did to bring home.

Colon (Cristobal)

We saw the Gatun locks in the morning and did Old, Colonial and New Panama city tour in the afternoon. It was quite hot but our bus was air conditioned so it was great. It was very interesting to see the differences and how things were built as time went on

Colon (Cristobal)

Saw the new locks being built and that was amazing. It was also very interesting to see ships going through the locks and how they worked.

Costa Maya

We did the Kohulich Mayan Ruins which were amazing. It was definitely worth going to see these ruins, the site was beautiful.
