Will never sali with P & O again.
We have previously cruised with Royal Carribean and Norweign (in the US) and we thought the food on the Norweign was bad before using P & O.
We were in a suite and although the room was a large size it was very dated and the balcony dirty - my husband had to clean the railing when we arrived.
The food was unacceptable / activities limited and repetitive / casino lacked atmosphere and left the only show we attended after 10 minutes.
Breakfast in the Waterfront was ordinary - I had raisin toast which was cold and dry and my husband was not impressed with his hot meal either - did not go back. The Pantry Breakfast was just as bad - the scrambled eggs were powdered / the fried eggs whites were runny / cold fruit and juice was served on hot plates / glasses. The only edible thing I found were the french toast with maple syrup.
Lunch was not any different - you go the various stations were you are served - the idea in principle is good but selections very limited. You have a choice of Mexican / Stir Fry / Indian / Prepared Sandwich / Wrap / Prepared Salad and Sweets. Could not just get some ham or chicken with a piece of tomato or cheese. In fact, no cheese (or antipasta style) available at all. We ended up BUYING Hamburgers just to get something reasonable.
Dined twice in the Waterfront for Dinner and even tried the Italian where the antipasta was great but downhill from there. The best meal we had was on the last night were had drinks on our suite balcony with our friends and got nuts (had run out of plain chips) and a great cheese from plate room service.
In addition, Hamilton Island did not seem prepared to deal with the influx of passengers - had to wait to get buggy hired and in a queue for 1/2 just to order lunch.
Would never cruise with P & O again. The sad thing is that other passengers though it was better than P & O other ships - perhaps they know no better.
Nice size suite and balcony but dated and balcony filthy. Husband had to clean the balcony railing when we arrived in our cabin and we just put up with the rest.
