We booked this cruise to join friends who had already made reservations. They had purchased their cruise a few years earlier and had just not been able to arrange the time to make the trip. Apparently they had forgotten, or were never really told, that getting the stay in Ft. Lauderdale, cruise to the Bahamas, and stay at the Grand Lucayan required sitting through a two-hour timeshare presentation. I learned this when making my reservations and alerted them and we all agreed we could just bite the bullet and go through this process.

While the price of the trip (just over $1000 for two people) sounds reasonable, there were a number of other costs not included. The sales rep did tell me we would have to pay daily taxes, gratuities, and enregy fees at the Ft. Lauderdale hotel and on the ship, but the Bahamas hotel was all inclusive. So, here's how the deal panned out:

- Upon arrival we got our rental car. Yes, we were told we'd have to pay taxes and fees, but the rental was covered. Those taxes came to over $100 and adding an extra driver was another $11/day. While our Alamo rep didn't push the liability insurance, our companions coming in later from another state were strong armed, driving their cost to over $400.
