Due to circumstances that I will explain later, I am very tardy writing this review of our cruise. This was a family cruise which included our children and grandchildren and was our fourth cruise on Royal Caribbean. Our last two cruises were on Adventure's sister ships, Explorer and Navigator of the Seas. We chose this cruise because we could depart from San Juan, guaranteeing warm weather and because there were ports on this cruise we had not toured.

We met our family in San Juan two days before the cruise and stayed at the Embassy Suites, which was perfect for us. I was uncertain about the condition of this ship because I know RCI has been putting greater emphasis on its newer and larger mega ships, and many of the reviews on cruise critic were less than pleasing. However, I need not have worried. We always try to board before noon and in spite of the lines which were already in place, embarkation was easy, well managed and we actually walked onto the ship in about 30 minutes from beginning to end.

The ship was beautiful, well maintained and certainly does not show its age. We went directly to the windjammer for lunch, and because we knew we would not have immediate access to our cabins,we had our bathing suits with us and headed to the pool. Our TA arranged for us to have four balcony cabins side by side on deck 7, which were perfect.

Cabin Review

Deluxe Oceanview Stateroom with Balcony

our balcony cabins were exactly what we expected...plenty of storage. We had a couple of glitches in our bathroom which were fixed quickly and without incident. We arranged to have our grandson's cabin decorated for his birthday, as a surprise for him. The decorations were whimsical and very fun. We also arranged through Royal Caribbean to have a birthday cake for our grandson delivered to our table in the dining room the last evening on board. It was beautiful and quite good. You do have to reconfirm these extras before boarding or your plans may go awry.
