My wife and I (both retired), and two of our friends, flew in the day before the cruise. We stayed at the Arc Las Ramblas. It was clean, in a great location, and had an elevator. It met our needs. The following morning we found an ATM across the street from the hotel, got euros, breakfast, and went to the Columbus circle near the harbor to get the public bus to the port. This cost 1.5 euros pp. The ride took 15 minutes and we were at the port by 11 am.

Boarding was a breeze, we were on the ship by 1125 am. I thought this might be due to our having priority boarding but our friends only took another 5 minutes longer.

The ship looks like someone took a building and stuck it on top of a boat. No eye appeal. I was not pleased with the layout of our balcony on the 9th floor. The sink was very small, lighting over the sink weak, and anyone using it blocked access for the other person to get by. I think designers should be required to use there designs. The steward was great, as was the staff wherever we went on the ship. The public spaces were too small for the 4000 plus passengers. This ship was made for the tropics not winter weather.

Mid-Ship Balcony

Cabin BB

There is not enough lighting in the room. If you use the sink no one can get by you. Plenty of storage. Love the coffee pot.

Port Reviews

Sardinia

45 minute bus ride around the city. 8 euros, what did I expect.

Palermo (Sicily)

Big bus, 42 people, nice tour although I prefer smaller group. Erice is a interesting village with narrow cobblestone streets on top of a mountain.

Naples

I booked this thru Joe Banana and limited it to 8 people. The driver was informative, picked a great deli-grocery in Sorrento for lunch where we ate sampler plates of local cheese, coldcuts, breads, etc. The wine and Limoncello were good. My wife loved the cookies we had for desert. We had been to Pompeii before so we went to the Herculaneun instead. I thought this was as good as Pompeii only smaller. The Amalfi Coast is beautiful and Positano charming.

Palma de Mallorca (Majorca)

This was a 2 hour walking tour. The guide knew his stuff and the city has a lot of history. We enjoyed ourselves and thought this was a well spent 10 euros.

Barcelona

We just flew in the afternoon before the cruise, so only had time to walk along the Las Ramblas.

Florence (Livorno)

There were 8 of us. The driver met us at the pier and we drove to Pisa where we spent an hour. We then went to Florence, Saw David and toured the city. Good tour, good driver and guide, Guido the king of Florence.
